19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from March of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an improved serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He saved four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
